골프존, 2016 디오픈 챔피언십 대회 내 골프 시뮬레이터 설치

전세계 스크린골프 시장을 이끌고 있는 골프존은 145회를 맞이한 디오픈 챔피언십 대회에 골프 시뮬레이터를 설치, 8,500여 명의 방문객들이 골프존의 우수한 골프 시뮬레이터를 체험하는 기회를 가졌다.

골프존의 골프 시뮬레이터는 경기가 개최된 로얄 트룬 골프 클럽의 HSBC 골프 부스에 설치되어, 방문객들을 위한 다양한 이벤트들을 개최했다.

세인트 앤드류스의 디 올드 코스의 첫번째 파4홀에 니어핀 이벤트를 개최, 참가자들은 50야드 이내의 숏게임을 즐길 수 있었다. 또한 세인트 엔드류스 올드 코스의 17번홀에서는 롱기스트 이벤트를 진행, 300 야드 이상의 드라이버 기록자에게 우승의 영광이 돌아갔다.

골프 연습 시뮬레이터인 GDR을 통해 진행된 이번 이벤트에는 6,400여 명의 참여자들이 참가했으며, 약 17만 5천 여명의 관객들이 골프존 부스를 방문했다. 방문객들은 미리 마련된 F&B를 즐기며, 커다란 스크린 화면을 통해 경기를 시청했다.

뿐만 아니라 로얄 트룬으로부터 1마일 가량 떨어진 트룬 타운 홀의 골프펑크 캐디셰크에 설치된 골프 시뮬레이터에도 2천 여명의 사람들이 몰려드는 진풍경이 연출되었다.

前 유러피언 라이더 컵 우승자 샘 토란스가 설치 직후 일찍이 골프존의 골프 시뮬레이터를 체험했으며, 디오픈 챔피언십에 참여한 토마스 피터스, 벨기에의 니콜라스 콜새츠 선수도 골프존의 골프 시뮬레이터를 체험했다. 레이디스 유러피안 투어에서 활동 중인 레이첼 맥퀸 선수는 참가자들과 대결을 펼치기도 했다.

골프존 임동진 미주유럽사업본부 본부장는 “디 오픈 챔피언십에서 골프존의 최첨단 기술을 소개할 수 있게 되어 굉장히 기쁘다“며, “골프존은 글로벌 브랜드 이미지 제고와 시장 점유율 상승을 위해 전세계의 다양한 골프 대회 및 행사에 적극적으로 참여하고자 노력하고 있다“고 말했다.

골프존은 하반기에도 전세계의 다양한 대회 및 행사에 참석, 골프존을 널리 알릴 계획이다. 올해 초 미국 시장에 진출한 골프존은 플로리다 올랜도에서 개최된 PGA 머천다이즈 쇼에도 참석한 바 있다. 또한 오는 10월 태국 후아힌에서 개최되는 2016 Asia Pacific Golf Summit에도 참석, 골프존의 골프 시뮬레이터를 선보일 계획이다.

GOLFZON Offer Exclusive Access to Simulators

during Open Championship

GOLFZON, a leading provider of golf simulators, had a successful stint last week on site and in the town of Troon during the 145th Open, presenting its state-of-the-art golf simulators to approximately 8,500 people who participated on the simulators.

GOLFZON had two simulators on site at Royal Troon Golf Club, located in the HSBC Golf Zone as a part of the Spectator Village adjacent to the 16th and 17th holes of the course used for the third major championship of the professional golf season.

A Nearest to the Pin challenge was held on a simulator showing the par-4 first hole at The Old Course at St. Andrews, with participants using the short game practice function to chip from 50 yards onto the green.

There were nine holes in one between Sunday, 10th July and Sunday, 17th July, the final round of the Open. A Longest Drive on the Road Hole, No. 17, at The Old Course, St. Andrews, was held on another simulator, with 300-plus yard drives winning daily.

Both simulators used the GDR system, a golf training simulator integrating a sensor and high resolution dual camera, and approximately 6,400 people tried the contests there.

Approximately 175,000 spectators attended the tournament and found easy access to the Spectator Village that had food and beverage options, a children’s play area and giant television screens beside the HSBC Golf Zone.

Additionally, GOLFZON had one simulator located in the GolfPunk Caddyshack, based at Troon Town Hall about one mile from Royal Troon, with approximately 2,000 people trying the simulator there.

Former European Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance opened the facility early in the week and Open Championship participants Thomas Pieters (finished tied for 30th at the Open) and Nicolas Colsaerts (finished tied for 46th) of Belgium tried out the GOLFZON simulator.

Aspiring Ladies European Tour player Rachael McQueen, who grew up in Troon, competed against visitors who came into the Town Hall site.

“We have been delighted to introduce the leading technology of GOLFZON to The Open Championship over the last few years, the game’s oldest championship,” said Tommy Lim, Senior Vice President of GOLFZON. “GOLFZON seeks to actively participate in various golf tournaments and events around the world in order to enhance the global brand awareness and market share.”

GOLFZON will be a participant in other events, to be announced, during the summer and the remainder of 2016 in the United States. GOLFZON entered the U.S. market earlier this year during the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL.

It has just been announced that The 2016 Asia Pacific Golf Summit will have a special GOLFZON display at the five-star Hyatt Regency Resort in Hua Hin on 29 and 30 October.
